    • 800 MHz discriminator for photon counting
  • Spectra Physics Lab 190 pulsed Nd:YAG lasers (2x)
    • 30 Hz 200 mJ/pulse at 355 nm
  • AdValue 1.5 micron erbium amplifier
    • 5 kHz 1 mJ/pulse at 1550-1560 nm (SHG to 780 nm or FHG to 387 nm)
  • Optics table for beam forming and detection
    • Free space probe beam routed to telescope, fiber coupled return signal from telescope for detection       

Subscale Atmospheric Facility

80 ft. long, 2 ft. diameter facility

  • Eight 2 ft. diameter, 10 ft. long cylindrical sections
  • Cross flow turbulence and diagnostic observation sections at intermediate locations
  • Heating elements for the generation of buoyancy driven turbulence
  • 2 kW 1.07 μm fiber laser
  • 18-watt 532 nm laser
  • 1 kHz to 60 kHz Femtosecond laser
  • 10 kHz to 1 MHz burst mode lasers

Provides controlled turbulence for aero-optic experiments

Variable atmosphere to simulate high altitude and weather

Advanced diagnostics, stand-off detection

Thermal blooming – simulation of effects of air contaminants – local vehicle exhaust, smoke, etc.

Local guide star development to correct for near field turbulence.
